How to Use Your Butter Crock

What You'll Need:
- PriorityChef Butter Crock
- 1 stick or ½ cup of store-bought or homemade butter, softened to room temperature
- Spoon or small spatula
Step 1
Remove the crock from its holder, and using the back of a spoon, press small chunks of butter into the bottom of the crock, making sure you push any air pockets out.
Step 2
Spread and pack the butter in as you rotate the bell. This action alleviates air pockets and prevents butter from falling into the crock when the bell is inverted. The entire stick of butter should consume about 2/3 of the bell’s capacity.

Step 3
Smooth the butter to create an even surface and wipe away any residue.
Step 4
Pour cold water into the well up to the water line. When the bell is inverted, the butter should be near to but not meet the water’s surface. This measure creates an airtight seal.

Step 5
Change the water every 3 days. At this point, wash the crock with soap and water before adding fresh water, and wipe the rim of the bell as necessary.

Tips to Preserve Freshness During Daily Use
- Swipe butter from the surface
- Avoid digging a knife into the butter, which can cause air pockets
- You may also add a little bit of salt into the water
- Store in a cool place to prevent the butter from collapsing into the well
- Consume within 10 days to enjoy full flavor and prevent souring
For Best Results
